Explain Any Image — Screenshot AI
Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 19, 2026
Try2.app ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Explain Any Image - Screenshot iOS application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the App:
- Images you submit: Photos and screenshots you upload or capture within the App. These images are sent to a third-party AI service (Google Gemini AI, operated by Google LLC) solely to generate text-based explanations. Images are not stored on our servers.
- Anonymous device identifier: We use Firebase Anonymous Authentication to assign your device a random, non-personal identifier. No email address, name, or account is required.
- Purchase information: In-app purchase and subscription status is managed by RevenueCat and Apple. We receive only whether your device is subscribed — no payment details are accessible to us.
- Usage data: Basic anonymous analytics (e.g., daily usage count) may be collected to enforce free-tier limits. This data is not linked to any personal identity.
2. Third-Party AI Data Sharing
Important: How Your Images Are Processed by AI
This App uses a third-party artificial intelligence service to analyze and explain images. Before any image is sent to this service, the App will ask for your explicit consent. Below is a summary of what is shared, with whom, and how:
2.1 What data is sent
When you select an image (photo, screenshot, chart, or document) for analysis, the following data is transmitted to the third-party AI service:
- The image you selected, compressed to reduce file size (JPEG format, max ~1.5 MB)
- A text prompt instructing the AI to generate an explanation, detail breakdown, or answer to your question
- Your selected output language preference (e.g., English, Turkish, Japanese)
No other personal data — such as your name, email, location, contacts, or device identifiers — is included in the request sent to the AI service.
2.2 Who the data is sent to
Your images are sent to Google Gemini AI, a generative AI service operated by Google LLC (Mountain View, California, USA). Google processes the image data under their own privacy terms. You can review Google's privacy practices here: Google Privacy Policy.
2.3 User consent
The App requests your explicit permission before sending any image to Google Gemini AI. On your first use, a consent dialog is presented that clearly describes:
- What data will be sent (your selected image)
- Who will receive the data (Google Gemini AI / Google LLC)
- How the data will be used (to generate a text-based explanation)
You must accept this consent before any image data leaves your device. If you decline, no image data is transmitted and the analysis is cancelled. You can continue to use the App without accepting, but the image analysis feature will not function without consent.
2.4 Data protection by the third party
Google LLC provides data protection measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and compliance with applicable data protection regulations. Google's handling of data sent to the Gemini API is governed by their Generative AI Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which provide protections that are consistent with industry standards for data security.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To deliver AI-generated explanations for images you submit (via Google Gemini AI)
- To provide text-to-speech audio playback of explanations (via Google Cloud Text-to-Speech API)
- To verify subscription status and enforce daily usage limits
- To improve the reliability and performance of the App
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
4. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Google Gemini AI (Google LLC) — receives and processes your images to generate text explanations. Google Privacy Policy
- Google Cloud Text-to-Speech (Google LLC) — converts explanation text to audio. No image data is sent to this service. Google Privacy Policy
- Firebase (Google LLC) — anonymous authentication and secure configuration delivery. Firebase Privacy Policy
- RevenueCat — manages in-app purchases and subscription state. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
- Apple App Store — handles all payment processing. Apple Privacy Policy
All third-party services listed above provide data protection measures consistent with or exceeding industry standards.
5. Data Storage & Retention
- Analysis history (last 15 items) is stored locally on your device only. We have no access to it.
- Images you submit are transmitted to Google's servers for processing and are not retained by us. Google's data retention policies for their Gemini API apply.
- Anonymous identifiers may be retained by Firebase for up to 180 days of inactivity, after which they are automatically deleted.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Since no account or personal data is required to use the App, there is no risk of inadvertent collection.
7. Your Rights
You may request deletion of any data associated with your anonymous identifier at any time by contacting us at the address below. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored history from your device. You may also revoke your AI data-sharing consent at any time by reinstalling the App; the consent prompt will be shown again on next use.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
