Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the keyboard need "Full Access"?

"Full Access" is required by iOS to allow our keyboard extension to communicate with our companion app, which performs the actual voice recording (iOS does not allow keyboard extensions to access the microphone directly). It does not give us access to your keystrokes or text — see our Privacy Policy for details.

Why does the app open when I tap the microphone?

iOS does not permit third-party keyboard extensions to access the microphone directly. Our app opens momentarily to capture audio via the on-device Speech framework, then iOS allows you to swipe back to where you were typing while recording continues in the background.

Is my voice sent to your servers?

No. Voice transcription runs entirely on-device using Apple's Speech framework. We never receive your audio. For a few languages or older devices, iOS may fall back to Apple's own cloud speech service — even in that case, audio is sent directly from your device to Apple, never through our servers.

The keyboard doesn't appear when I add it.

Try the following:

  • Restart your iPhone after adding the keyboard
  • Make sure you tapped Add New Keyboard…, not Edit
  • Open the AI Voice Keyboard app once to confirm it's installed correctly

My voice is not being transcribed correctly.

For best results:

  • Speak clearly and at a moderate pace
  • Reduce background noise
  • Make sure iOS is set to a language you can speak fluently — AI Voice Keyboard auto-detects your iOS system language
  • Check that Apple's on-device speech recognition is enabled in Settings → General → Keyboard → Enable Dictation

What languages are supported?

AI Voice Keyboard supports all languages provided by Apple's Speech framework — over 50 languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Turkish, Arabic, Russian, and many more. The keyboard automatically uses your iOS system language.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open iOS Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → AI Voice Keyboard → Cancel Subscription. Your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period.

How do I restore a previous purchase?

Open the AI Voice Keyboard app → Settings → Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID that made the original purchase.

Does the app collect what I type?

No. The keyboard extension contains no code to log or transmit keystrokes. Text you produce via dictation goes directly from Apple's Speech framework into the field you were typing in — we never see it. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

I deleted the app — what happens to my subscription?

Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription. You must cancel it manually in iOS Settings → Subscriptions, otherwise it will continue to renew. After cancellation, you can reinstall the app any time and your subscription will be restored automatically (use Restore Purchases if needed).
