1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how the AI Voice Keyboard iOS application ("AI Voice Keyboard", the "App", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the App and its custom keyboard extension.

We've designed the App to collect as little personal information as possible. You do not need to create an account. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, or any other personally identifying information.

Plain English summary: Your voice is transcribed entirely on your device by Apple's built-in Speech framework. We never receive your audio, we never see what you type, and your dictated text goes directly from your device to the app you're using — never through our servers.

2. How Voice Dictation Works

When you tap the microphone in the AI Voice Keyboard, the following happens:

  1. The App requests microphone access from iOS (one-time prompt).
  2. Your spoken words are captured by the iOS microphone and passed to Apple's on-device Speech Recognition framework (SFSpeechRecognizer with requiresOnDeviceRecognition = true where supported by your device and language).
  3. The Speech framework returns transcribed text directly to the App.
  4. The App inserts the transcribed text into the field you were typing in (Messages, Email, Notes, etc.) via the standard iOS keyboard text-insertion API.

Your audio never leaves your device. Transcription runs locally using Apple's on-device speech models. We do not record, store, transmit, log, or analyze your audio.

For a small number of languages or older devices where Apple's on-device model is not available, iOS may fall back to Apple's cloud speech recognition. In that case, the audio is sent directly from your device to Apple, governed by Apple's privacy policy. We never receive or have access to this audio.

3. Information We Collect

Anonymous Identifier

When you first open the App, our backend (Google Firebase Authentication) generates a random anonymous user ID for your installation. This ID is not linked to your real identity, your Apple ID, or any other personally identifying information. The ID exists so the App can sync your subscription status across sessions on the same device.

Subscription and Purchase Data

When you purchase a subscription, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple. We use RevenueCat to verify and sync your subscription status. We receive only:

We do not see your Apple ID, your credit card number, your billing address, or any other payment information. All payment processing is handled by Apple.

Anonymous Usage Statistics

We may collect anonymous, aggregated counts of how many times the keyboard mic was activated and how many transcription sessions completed successfully. These counts contain no audio, no transcribed text, no user identifier beyond the anonymous one above, and cannot be associated with any individual.

4. What We Do Not Collect

For absolute clarity, the App does not collect:

The "Allow Full Access" permission iOS requests for our keyboard extension is required by iOS to allow the keyboard to communicate with our main application (for the dictation flow) and to enable Apple's Speech framework. It does not give us, or anyone else, access to what you type. The keyboard extension does not contain any networking code that transmits keystrokes or text content.

5. Third-Party Services

The App relies on a small number of trusted third-party services.

Apple Speech Framework

Speech recognition is performed by Apple's built-in Speech framework. Where supported, recognition runs entirely on-device. Apple's privacy policy governs any cloud-based fallback for languages or devices where on-device recognition is not available.

Google Firebase

We use Firebase Authentication for anonymous account creation and Cloud Firestore for remote feature flag configuration. Firebase is operated by Google LLC.

RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat to handle subscription validation. RevenueCat receives the anonymous user ID and the App Store transaction details only.

Apple App Store

The App is distributed through Apple's App Store. Apple processes all payments and may collect its own anonymized usage analytics governed by Apple's privacy policy.
