Getting started

What does Bible Widget App do?

It lets you build your own Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets that pair a Bible verse with a background photo — either a verse you pick yourself that stays fixed, or a "Verse of the Day" that rotates automatically within a category you choose.

How do I create my first widget?

Open the App, tap Create a Widget on the Home tab (or the + button on My Widgets), choose Fixed or Verse of the Day, pick a verse and a background photo, style it, give it a name, and save.

How do I actually add it to my Home Screen or Lock Screen?

After saving a widget, open How to add a widget from the Home tab or Settings for a step-by-step guide. In short: touch and hold your Home Screen (or Lock Screen for Customize), tap +, search "Bible Widget", add it, then tap it once and choose Edit Widget to pick which of your saved widgets to display.

Widgets

What's the difference between Fixed and Verse of the Day?

Fixed widgets always show the exact verse and photo you picked. Verse of the Day widgets automatically rotate through verses in a category you choose, changing once a day.

Can I add more than one widget?

Yes. Create as many saved widgets as you like in My Widgets, then add multiple widget instances to your Home Screen or Lock Screen — for each one, use Edit Widget to choose which saved widget it should show.

I edited or deleted a widget in the App but my Home Screen widget didn't update.

iOS refreshes widgets on its own schedule, which can take a few minutes. If it still hasn't updated, try leaving and reopening the App to trigger a refresh, or removing and re-adding the widget.

Can I use my own photos?

Not at the moment — background photos come from Pexels' library so we can respect photographer licensing and keep the App free of Photo Library access. We may add custom photos in a future update.

Why don't my widgets look the same on the Lock Screen?

Lock Screen widgets (rectangular, circular, inline) are rendered by iOS in a monochrome, tinted style and only show text — background photos are a Home Screen–only feature, by Apple's design.

Premium subscription

Do I need to subscribe to use the App?

Yes. Bible Widget App is a subscription-only app.

What plans are available?

The current price of each plan is shown at the time of purchase in your local currency.

How do I cancel my subscription?

iOS Settings → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → Bible Widget App → Cancel Subscription. Your access continues until the end of your current billing period. We can't cancel subscriptions for you — Apple manages this directly.

How do I get a refund?

All purchases are processed by Apple, so refund requests must be submitted directly to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We don't have the ability to issue refunds ourselves.

I subscribed but Premium isn't showing up in the App.

Tap Restore on the paywall or in Settings. This re-syncs your purchase from Apple. If it still doesn't appear after a minute, email us with your purchase confirmation from Apple.

Privacy and data

Where are my widgets and verses stored?

Entirely on your device, in a local App Group container shared between the App and the widget. We don't have a server that stores your widgets. See our Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.

Does the App access my Photos or Camera?

No. Background photos come only from Pexels' library — the App never requests Photo Library or Camera access.

Do you sell my data?

No. We don't sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers. We don't run ads in the App. Our only revenue is from Premium subscriptions.

How do I delete my data?

Uninstalling the App immediately deletes your widgets, verses, and photo selections, since they're stored only on your device. To also remove anonymous subscription/analytics records from our third-party providers, email [email protected].

Troubleshooting

The widget I added shows "Tap and hold to choose a saved widget".

This means the widget hasn't been linked to one of your saved widgets yet. Tap and hold the widget, choose Edit Widget, and pick one from the list.

Background photos won't load when I'm creating a widget.

Make sure you have an active internet connection — background photos are fetched live from Pexels. If the issue persists, try a different search term or restart the App.

I don't see the "How to add a widget" instructions I need.

Open Settings from the My Widgets tab and tap How to add a widget for the full step-by-step guide, for both Home Screen and Lock Screen.

Daily verse notifications aren't arriving.

Check iOS Settings → Notifications → Bible Widget App and make sure notifications are allowed. Also confirm the reminder toggle is on in the App's Settings tab.
